Fractures and dislocations of the shoulder and elbow require urgent, specialist assessment. Mr Baring offers rapid private access for expert diagnosis, surgical fixation, and long-term recovery planning.

Acute pain and swelling following a fall or impact
Visible deformity or inability to move the joint
Bruising spreading down the arm within 24–48 hours
A previous NHS fracture treatment that hasn't healed as expected
Rapid imaging (X-ray + CT where needed). Non-surgical management for stable fractures — sling, physio, close monitoring. Surgical fixation or reconstruction for displaced or complex fractures. Second opinions welcome.

This isn't the same for everyone but this gives you a rough idea of the recovery time for post op elbow surgery recovery
If you don't see your insurer listed please reach out and we will chat through the options with you.

Commonly asked questions about Frozen Shoulder in London
No - you can book yourself directly into clinic here
Yes. If you have sustained an acute fracture or dislocation and want a private specialist assessment, please contact the team as soon as possible and we will arrange an urgent appointment. Mr Baring sees patients quickly and can usually accommodate urgent cases within one to two days. If your injury requires immediate emergency treatment, please attend your nearest A&E in the first instance — once stabilised, Mr Baring can take over your ongoing care privately.
Not necessarily. Many fractures of the shoulder and elbow can be managed non-surgically with immobilisation, close monitoring, and a structured rehabilitation programme. Surgery is recommended when a fracture is significantly displaced, when bone fragments are affecting joint function, or when non-surgical management is unlikely to restore full movement. Mr Baring will review your imaging and give you a clear, honest recommendation, including the risks and benefits of both approaches, before any decision is made.
Absolutely. Mr Baring regularly sees patients who want a second opinion following NHS treatment, whether they are concerned about their diagnosis, their recovery, or the treatment plan they have been given. You do not need a referral and you are not obliged to transfer your care, a second opinion consultation can simply provide reassurance, or identify whether a different approach might produce a better outcome. Bring any imaging, discharge letters, or clinic notes you have and Mr Baring will review everything in full.
